WINSTON COY Obituary

Winston F. Coy Colonel Winston F. "Win" Coy died peacefully at the age of 95 in Federal Way, Washington. Born in 1915 in Boston, Massachusetts, he lived in western Washington for most of his long and active life. Win responded to the call of his country during World War II, and was sent to flight school in Texas to train as a bomber pilot. Stationed at McChord Field for additional combat training, he met and married Dora Mae Rice of Tacoma (1920-1981). After his tour of duty in England concluded, he was stationed at McChord AFB, where he later served as Commanding Officer for MATS (Military Air Transport Service). Win retired from the Air Force and had a long and successful career in commercial and private interior design. He began flying again as a hobby, and continued to play tennis and golf. He married the late artist Margit Bissett in 1988; they enjoyed a wonderful life together. Win has spent the last decade of his active life flying, designing and spending time with his granddaughter Lexi. Win is survived by his sons Winston (Doc) Coy, Jr. of Tacoma and Dana Coy, daughter-in-law JoAnne, granddaughter Lexi of Auburn, and sister Janice of Colorado. His wit, kindness and generosity will be greatly missed. He will be buried with military honors at the National Cemetery in Covington on July 30th, 2010 at 10:15 a.m.

I'm sorry to hear of Win Coy's passing. He was scout master of troop 108 at Downing Elementry in the '50s. Many of my childhood memories are about the wonderful activities that he ran for the boy scouts.

I'm sorry to hear about the passing of Colonel Coy. I remember all the great time at his hous when I was hanging out with Dana. Col. Coy was always there to help us do what ever. I still remember Dana and I planning to travel from Tacoma to New Your on Honda 50 motorcycles. We did finally come to our senses and realized that it would be better on a honda 90. We never did make the trip but Col. Coy got a big charge out of it. To the coys I hope all is with you RIP Col. Coy Thanks for the great times.
