Cora Ruth Whitley (Johnson) Cora Whitley was welcomed to heaven into the arms of Jesus July 22, 2014, surrounded by her loving family and her sister Jean Carter. Cora was born in Jonesville, LA to Annie and Willie Johnson on December 13, 1938. She graduated Valedictorian from Jonesville High. She leaves her loving husband of 56 years, Amos, son Bernard Whitley (Leslie), daughters Anne Artman (Dennis), Gail Neal (Glen), and Tracy Whitley, grandchildren Johnny Majors (Marla), Brian, and Brycen Neal, Ashely Whitley, Aaron, Alison Crane, Tasia and Letica Johnson, numerous great-grandchildren, and sisters and brothers. Cora worked for several years at the County City Building and after 25 years at Fred Meyer, she retired. Following her passion and calling, she became the founder of Multicultural Child and Family Hope Center. She dedicated her life to families in Tacoma, especially the children. The coworkers became her second family and she loved them all. Cora was a caring, honest, and loving woman who will be forever remembered. She was a faithful member of St. John Baptist Church TMI, where her service will be held on Tuesday, July 29th, 11:00 a.m., 2001 South J St, Tacoma 98405.
