JAMES POOLE S.J.

James Poole S.J. James Elwood Poole was born on May 18, 1923 in Cle Elum, Washington. He graduated from Bellarmine Preparatory School in Tacoma in 1941, and entered the Jesuit Novitiate the following year. For decades he worked in Alaska, primarily developing and running KNOM as a Catholic mission. He was preceded in death by his father Chester Ryder Poole, his mother Luella Marie (Burke) Poole, his brother Chester Robert Francis Poole, and his sister Helen Louise Ford. He died on March 6, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos, California, at the age of 94. Cremation will occur at Los Gatos. Interment of his ashes will be at Mount Saint Michael Cemetery.
