SGT. Joshua J. Strickland SGT. Joshua "Jay" Strickland (23) was killed in action while serving with the 1st Special Forces Group 2nd Battalion in Afghanistan on September 21, 2013. Jay was a proud Texan who took great joy and satisfaction from his service in the United States Army and served his country well. Jay was loved by many and will be missed dearly. Jay is survived by his wife Heather, son Landon, daughters Maddison and Victoria, brothers Andrew, Caleb and Garrett, sister Delaynie, and parents Jim and Beth Funk. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Yahn & Son Funeral Home in Auburn, WA, with interment with full military honors to follow at Tahoma National Cemetery.
