LOWELL DOUD Obituary

Lowell Doud 10/23/1922 - 3/31/2016 Our Hero Hi, this is Lowell, and I'm saying goodbye for now. Do not grieve for me, as I have lived a long and happy life, loved dearly by my wife Tina, surrounded by loving family and very special friends, having done everything I've ever wanted to doand surely some things that I shouldn't have! I am 93 years old, so when it comes time to go, you go - no regrets. I was ready. I passed away peacefully, with no pain, with my wife at my side. I was born in Buckley, Washington, to wonderful parents Queenie and Faye Doud. I was one of three children, having brother Louis and sister Leanore. I experienced a lot in my 93 years here. I served in the Navy in World War II. Upon my discharge I returned to my college and was recruited directly from the football field to play in the NFL by the Oakland Raiders, and I also played for the San Francisco 49ers. But the NFL wasn't enough; I also played in the NBA for the Portland Trail Blazers. When I finished having fun playing pro ball, I returned home and started my own logging and trucking business. Through the years I was a fireman for the City of Puyallup, I was a pilot and owned my own planes, a welder, plumber, electrician, heavy equipment operator, supervisor at the school bus garage, and a service manager for a truck and heavy equipment company. I never liked to be sitting around, so I also had my own garage/shop at home with an open-door policy for family and dear friends. I owned my own race horsesand I even won! In 1979 I built Fruitland Gardens Mobile Home Park (which I owned and managed) from the ground up with the help of special and wonderful friends. That is where Tina and I lived until I passed. I must say that my happiest years were spent being a member of the Pierce County Sheriff's Mounted Posse, of which I am a lifetime member. With the help of my special friends, posse members, wives and children we built the posse rodeo grounds at Tacoma Unit, of which I am also a lifetime member. I served as captain, drillmaster, board member, and rodeo coordinator. It was a huge surprise being selected at the PRCA National Rodeo Finals in Las Vegas as "Committee Man of the Year" which proved our little rodeo was named "number one" in all of the United States. So very proud of all who made our rodeo such a success - Wow!!! On December 7, 2011, while at the PRCA National Rodeo Finals, I was once again honored for my past achievements to the rodeo industry - at 89 years old. How about that? My three beautiful, loving daughters are Cathi, Diana and Patty. They would tell you that I led by example. I taught them to work hard, stand strong, to love and to be loved. They would also tell you that I am their hero. My remaining Doud family members are nephews Bob and Jim Doud, niece Kay Austin, and their families. I have 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. I was preceded in death by my brother Louis, my sister Leanore, and my son Ron. My blessings and love to all my special friends for always being there for me - you all are the greatest, many of whom I call sons. A very sincere "Thank You" to C. Kevin Bulley, M.D, and his nurse Ida for taking such wonderful care of me all these years. You both are totally awesome! This is not goodbye, but rather see you later. I have been blessed with a wonderful wife, family, and friends, and I am now with my precious dog, JRT Dandee. My parting words: Live, love, and be happy. I was!! Now let's party. Happy trails to you! Remembrances in my name can be made to: Crime Stoppers, 6824 19th St. W., #139, University Place, WA 98466. My celebration of life "party" will be on Monday, April 25th, from 12-4 p.m. at the Puyallup Eagles, 202 5th St. W., Puyallup. My final resting place will be in the Legacy Mausoleum in Fir Lane Memorial Park.

What a large hole has been made with the passing of Lowell . He was such a good good man and a wonderful neighbor to our family. He was the best friend to my dad and visited him every day in the nursing home. He always treated we kids well as we were growing up and we all loved him. I pray for Tina as she goes on without him. He was a good guy.

Dear Tina, All the years and memories of your wonderful husband will stay with us and our boys forever. He truly helped Boyd more than any other person, always his "go to guy" and mentor. Taught him so much! His wisdom will be passed on in our cotinued daily life. Heaven has an angel now of many gifts! Hugs, Boyd and Bette Malyon

Lowell,
Shoulda know you'd be writing your own obit...you're the only one could keep it all straight! Big heart, generous and caring nature, and a warm sense of humor: Hope your grandkids pick up on the example you set for them. You had a good, long run Lowell, and God knows you worked hard... now rest a bit.

Till we meet again my dear friend, Lowell! You made a special place for Harold and I in your new mobile home park 35 years ago and have been a good friend ever since. You have always been there for me since Harold went home ahead of you in 1982. This place will not be the same without you and your constant presence! I have 35 years of wonderful memories. Rest in peace dear friend!!!
