Sandra Joann Ayers, 66, of Brownstown, formerly of Brown County, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born April 14, 1947, in Brown County, she was the daughter of Wilbur and Kathryn (Ferguson) Lucas.
On June 15, 1963, in Freetown, she married Gerald S. "Scotty" Ayers, who survives.
Sandra was employed as a waitress with Nashville House in Brown County. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. Sandra liked gardening and hunting for mushrooms. Her greatest enjoyment was being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Michelle (Michael) Crum and Penny (Kevin) Tolle; grandchildren, Ashley (Justin) Burnett, Mackenzie Crum, Nicole Bringle and Hunter Tolle; great-grandchildren, Taylor Bringle, Haley Bringle and Brayton Bringle; a brother, Darrell (Mary) Lucas; and a sister, Debbie (Clyde) Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Clifford Lucas, Roger Lucas, Denny Lucas and Randy Lucas; and stepmother, Lottie Lucas.
Funeral service will be at Voss Chapel in Seymour at 1 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Steve Barrett officiating.
Burial will take place at Christianburg Cemetery with a Voss dove release.
Friends may call at Voss Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from noon until time of service Sunday.
Memorials may be written to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
