Blackburn, Patricia J. - North Vernon  
Patricia J. Blackburn of North Vernon died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg. Survivors include three sons, Shane Owens of Crothersville, and Anthony (Sarah) and Thomas (Bethany) Blackburn, both of Columbus, and two grandchildren. The funeral service will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2:30 until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

Cox, Walter "Wally" - Seymour  
Walter "Wally" Cox, 72, of Seymour, passed away at 7 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, in Anderson. He had worked as a supervisor for Interstate Brands Corp. and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was an avid golfer who played as recently as Friday. He received great joy when traveling with his wife in their RV throughout the United States. Born Jan. 24, 1942, in Knott County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late L.B. and Luelzia Gayhart Cox. On June 14, 1980, he married Louise Brewer McKinney. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Eric (Gina) Cox; two stepsons, Mark (Joyce) McKinney and Scott (Megan) McKinney; a brother, Clark (Dorothy) Cox; a sister, Thelma Cox; and nine grandchildren, Bradley Cox, Derek Cox, Payton Cox, Ashley Cox, Amanda Cox, Andrew McKinney, Victoria McKinney, Reed McKinney and John McKinney. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brian Cox; three brothers; and a sister. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home in Brownstown with the Rev. Bill Lockman officiating. Burial with military rites will take place at Smallwood Cemetery west of Brownstown. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be written to the Wounded Warrior Project. Dominik, Joseph F.* - Seymour  
Joseph F. Dominik, 92, of Seymour, passed away Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at his residence. Born Jan. 21, 1922, in Whiting, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Hebda Dominik. On June 21, 1947, in Hammond, he married Mary A. Pasyk, who survives. During World War II, Joe honorably served his country in the European Theatre, receiving the Bronze Star. He retired from Standard Oil/Amoco as supervisor of the maintenance department. He was an active member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Seymour, serving the parish in many capacities, especially being a part of the volunteer mowing crew at the parish cemetery. He also was active in the Knights of Columbus and the Tigers Athletic and Social Club. Joe enjoyed traveling with Mary, fishing, doing carpentry work and being a general handyman. It seems there was not anything he could not repair or fix. Joe most especially will be remembered by his family as an excellent husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His family and parish church were his life. Joe also is survived by his children, Thomas (Susan) Dominik, Joseph (Alexandra) Dominik, Martin Dominik, Lygia (James) Ford, Mary Ellen (Timothy) Emch and Claudia Dominik; brothers, the Rev. Father Stanley Dominik and John (Pearl) Dominik; sisters, Ann Radde and Irene Matz; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Dominik; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a brother, Chester Dominik; and two sisters, Mary Hruskocy and Sophie Hapak. The Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Dan Staublin, the Rev. Father Stanley Dominik and the Rev. Father Joseph Sheets officiating and Deacon Mike East assisting. Burial will follow in the St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour. Friends and family may call from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Voss Chapel in Seymour and from 9 a.m. until Mass time Wednesday at the church. Drummond, George Benjamin* - New Albany  
George Benjamin Drummond, 88, formerly of Bloomington and Seymour, passed away Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, in New Albany. Born Dec. 18, 1925, in Chicago, he was the son of John William "Bill" and Lillian A. Argadine Drummond. On May 5, 1946, in Bloomington, he married Phyllis Lou Williams, who preceded him in death May 12, 2011. George was a member of Community Christian Church, Seymour, and of "The Greatest Generation," as he served our country in the U.S. Navy for 26 years. He served in both World War II and the Korean War. George is survived by his four children, Kathee (David) Wheeler, Daniel (Jacquie) Drummond, James (Paula) Drummond and Martin (Lori) Drummond; eight grandchildren, Michele (Daniel) O'Leary, Renee (Denny) Smith, Paul David (Rachel) Menard, Michael (Julia) Drummond, J.R. (Kristin) Drummond, Curt (Holly) Drummond, Jessica (Dave) Cornett and Melissa (Sullivan) Cook; 15 great- grandchildren, Fallon (Casey) Pennington, Timothy O'Leary, Gary (Alora) Tash, Bradley Sheppard, Harley Menard, Samuel Benjamin Drummond, Adrienne Drummond, Peyton, Riley and Dru Drummond, Boaz, Jonathan, Hannon and Hadassah Drummond and Isla Mae Cornett; three great-great-grandchildren, Aubrey Tash, Isla and Lilian Pennington; seven stepgrandchildren; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; granddaughter, Julie Ann Menard; great-grandson, Job Ross Drummond; brothers, Jack, Guy and Richard Drummond and Harold Carlson; and sisters, Mabel Kirker and Helena May. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Church of God, New Albany, with the Rev. Leland Lockhart officiating. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday at Clear Creek Cemetery, Bloomington, with full military graveside rites conducted by the U.S. Naval Funeral Honors of Indianapolis. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Navy Relief Fund or donor's choice of charity.

Edmonds Jr., Robert "Rock"* - Seymour  
Robert "Rock" Edmonds Jr., 66, of Seymour, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born June 20, 1948, in Madison, he was the son of Robert Q. and Bernice Marie Humes Edmonds Sr. On Dec. 31, 1977, in Seymour, he married Nancy Loper. She survives. Rock was a graduate of Seymour High School. He loved rollerskating, fishing with his children and grandchildren and spending time with his family. Besides his wife, other survivors include his children, Stephanie (Andrew) Maschino, Robert Edmonds, Angela Edmonds and Ronald Diamond; grandchildren, Patrick Maschino, Kaleigh Maschino, Micah Maschino, Isabel Maschino, Kiefer Galliher, Trina Edmonds, Briana Edmonds, Tommy Edmonds, Cody Edmonds, Mariah Diamond and Jaida Diamond; brothers, Snake (Vickie) Edmonds, Raymond (Linda) Edmonds, Larry "Pimp Daddy" Edmonds and Art (Pam) Edmonds; and sister, Roberta (Frankie) Kyle. His parents preceded him in death. The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Voss Chapel in Seymour with the Rev. Gary Dyer officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to donor's choice of charity. Voss & Sons Funeral Service and Tri-County Crematory are handling the arrangements.

Ferguson Jr., James Henry* - Brownstown  
James Henry Ferguson Jr., 74, of Brownstown, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at home with his family around him. Born Aug. 15, 1940, in Seymour, he was the son of James Henry "Jake" and Blanche Hutchings Ferguson. On March 27, 1964, at Brownstown Nazarene Church, he married Sandra K. Price. Jim was retired from Kieffer Paper Mill after 40 years of service. He was a member of Brownstown Nazarene Church and Medora Masonic Lodge 328. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and his horses, restoring cars and playing cards. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Sandra; son, Jeff (Lisa) Ferguson of Brownstown; daughter, Diana (Troy) Beedie of Brownstown; brother, Bill (Pat) Ferguson; sisters, Jean Gibby, Janet McKinney, Charlene (Carl Jr.) Roberts and Linda Horton; grandchildren, Lindsay (Seth) Pray, Katie Ferguson, Chase (Kaila) Beedie and Chance (Bri) Beedie; great-grandchildren, Brock Pray, Isabella Scifres and Kaselynn Beedie; and several nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Donna Wilson and Marlene Charles. Per Jim's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Monday at Leesville Methodist Church, 7344 Leatherwood Road, Bedford. There will be a reception with the family following the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Schneck Medical Center or Leesville Methodist Church. Gambrel, Naomi* - Crothersville  
Naomi Belle Gambrel, 91, of Crothersville, passed away at 11:05 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour. Born July 22, 1923, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Everet Elmer Stainbrook and Amelia Wright Wendelboe. Naomi was a 1941 graduate of Shelbyville High School. She retired from Vallonia State Tree Nursery in 1985. She was a member of Community Church in Brownstown, Tampico Extension Homemakers Club for more than 50 years, Jackson County Extension Homemakers Past Presidents Club and a leader of Tampico Sunshine 4-H Club for 25 years. She was a charter member of Hickory Hills Golf Club, where she was league champion and made 12 holes-in-one during her golf career, with the last one being when she was 78. She enjoyed planting flowers and sewing. On Aug. 23, 1941, she married Charles M. Gambrel in Greenfield. The couple were married for 73 years, and he survives in Crothersville. Besides her husband, survivors include five children, Donald (Ruth Ann) Gambrel of Seymour, Dick (Edith) Gambrel of Versailles, Robert (Connie) Gambrel of New Palestine, Peggy (Steve) Hauer of Scottsburg, and William (Dilcia) Gambrel of Dominican Republic; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Howard and Thurman Stainbrook; a sister, Edith Weber; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Gambrel. Naomi was a wonderful, helpful, supportive, caring, very sweet wife, mom and grandma. Her family describes her as being the best she could possibly be at all of those and they are going to truly miss her. The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Adams Funeral Home and Crematory in Crothersville. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Russell Chapel Cemetery following the service. Memorial donations may be made to Community Church in Brownstown, Schneck Medical Hospice, or Russell Chapel Cemetery c/o Adams Funeral Home.
