Born on Dec. 12, 1940, in Crothersville, she was the daughter of Walter and Madge (Lowry) Pevlor, both of whom preceded her in death.
She was a 1958 Crothersville High School graduate and a beauty college graduate. She then worked for Madge Wilson as a beautician for a year.
On June 4, 1960, she married Ralph S. Sweany at First Baptist Church of Crothersville. They began their marriage at Purdue University
while Carol was working as a beautician and Ralph was finishing his last year of college. For the next 13 years, they moved from Seattle to Rapid City, S.D., Huntsville, Ala., and New Orleans, moving back home to Crothersville in 1973.
She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Crothersville, where she was a faithful member who worked very hard in the administrative side, being the church treasurer for numerous years. She was blessed and gifted with a beautiful voice to sing in the church choir. Her kindness and generosity was not unnoticed, as she served and lead the hospitality committee at church for several years.
Carol was a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant and enjoyed spending time playing golf and bowling. She spent a few years working for Child Care Network as the director, inspecting day cares. Her love for children was also evident by working as a teacher's aid at Crothersville Elementary School and Crothersville High School for several years, driving a school bus for 15 years and attending Crothersville High School sporting events. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at gatherings and vacations.
