Jerry Michael "Dutch" Growe, 58, of Seymour, passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at Roudebush VA Medical Center, Indianapolis.
Born June 22, 1955, in Seymour, he was the son of the Marshall Growe, who preceded him in death, and Jean Rogers Thompson, who survives.
Jerry was a 1973 graduate of Seymour High School and a U.S. Navy
veteran, who served from 1973 to 1987. He was a military aircraft mechanic. He was a member of Rockford United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting and also had an interest in art. He liked riding his scooter with his dog, Toby, in the basket. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, the North American Hunting Club and Ducks Unlimited.
Besides his mother, he is survived by the mother of his children, Peg Mellenbruch; children, Angela (John) Mathews, Michael (Jennifer) Growe and Alana Growe; grandchildren, Cody, Arrin and Mattheu Mathews, and Brayden and Lilah Growe; brother, Richard (Kathy) Growe; half brother, Robert Jenkins; half sister, Billie Jean (Patrick) Ritchie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road, Madison.
