Lloyd V "Hank" Anderson Jr.

Lloyd V. "Hank" Anderson Jr., 81, Madison, passed away at 5:40 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at King's Daughters' Hospital, Madison.
Born Jan. 10, 1932, in Chicago, he was the son of Lloyd V. Sr. and Esther Eklund Anderson. Hank was united in marriage to Dorothy M. Hill on Oct. 29, 1955, in North Vernon. This marriage was blessed with four daughters and two sons. On Aug. 8, 1978, Hank was united in marriage to Alma L. Davis in Las Vegas. They enjoyed 24 years of marriage together until her death on Feb. 26, 2002.
Hank was raised in Elizabethtown and was a graduate of Columbus North High School. Henry, as he was known in Bartholomew County, was inducted into the U.S. Navy on Jan. 15, 1951, in Indianapolis. He rose to the rank of radioman third class serving tactical air control squadron six naval air station in Norfolk, Va., during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on Nov. 26, 1954, in Norfolk, Va., receiving the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Navy Occupation Medal. He was employed with Clifty Engineering in Madison since 1965 as a sales engineer and retired on Jan. 10, 2000. Hank was of the Christian faith, and enjoyed membership in the Madison Moose Lodge 765, Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion and the Madison Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1969. He enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, Indiana state parks, Indiana University basketball, Indianapolis Colts football and the Cincinnati Reds baseball. Hank enjoyed the love and affection of his faithful friend, Little Bear.
Survivors include his daughters, Susan (Foster) Morgan, Jenny (Mike) Keeton, Jill Holt and Sandy (Lance) Jones, all of Madison; his sons, Michael Anderson of Augusta, Ga., and John Anderson Madison; stepson, Richard Rankin, Madison; stepdaughter, Nancy Rankin of Madison; sister-in-law, Connie (Gene) Hollowell, Seymour; brother-in-law, George Finch of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Brent Morgan, Lindsay (Tony) Vigil, Eric and Alec Anderson, Nicholas Anderson, Josh (Mandi) Schmidt, Kayla Schmidt, Hannah Holt and Logan and Luke Jones; great-grandchildren, Owen Schmidt, Henry Schmidt, Jackson Vigil and Olivia Horton; step-grandchildren, Saige Sentell, and John and Jenny Rankin; several nieces, nephews and other relatives
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd V. Sr. and Esther Eklund Anderson; his first wife, Dorothy M. Hill Anderson, June 7, 1995; second wife, Alma L. Davis Anderson, Feb. 26, 2002; brother, John Anderson; and sisters, Virginia Finch and Felicia Burns.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Morgan and Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive, Madison, with Brother Bob Hicks, officiating. Burial will take place at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
A final salute will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion. Full military honors will be conducted at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel on Thursday by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion.
