Marian Janice "Jan" Emley, 79, Seymour, passed away at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at the Lutheran Community Home.
Born April 4, 1933, in Canton, Mo., she was the daughter of Conrad L. and Marian F. Doane Ohl. Jan graduated from Purdue University
in 1955 with a bachelor's degree in fashion merchandising and was married to Jack Lee Emley on Aug. 24, 1968, in Dayton, Ohio. She and her husband owned and operated a family business, the Hearing Aid Center of South Central Indiana, prior to his death in 1994. She was also a substitute teacher for Seymour High School.
Marian was a member of Rockford United Methodist Church and attended White Creek United Methodist Church. She was a member of Tri Kappa Sorority and Alpha Chi Omega Sorority while attending Purdue. She was an avid supporter of Reins to Recovery, loved horses and was an experienced equestrian.
Survivors include her children, John (Tanya) Emley and Jennifer (Matt) Snodgrass; four grandchildren, Michael and Catherine Emley, and Lauren and Clair Snodgrass; and a sister, Joyce (Lou) Cecchini.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, John Ohl.
The Rev. Dennis Zetterberg will conduct funeral services at 6 p.m. Sunday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, Seymour. Burial will follow in Reddington Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until time of service Sunday at the funeral home.
