Paul Lester McCoy

Paul Lester McCoy, 76, of North Vernon, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
Born April 4, 1937, in Washington, he was the son of Cleo Wesley and Pauline Ross McCoy. He married Barbara Patterson on Oct. 1, 1960, at First Baptist Church in North Vernon, and she survives.
Paul worked as an engine tester for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, retiring in 2002 after 37 years. He also had worked for five years as a railroad police officer. He was a member of First Baptist Church in North Vernon, where he was a former deacon. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 until 1962 and was a 1956 graduate of Washington High School in Washington. His enjoyments were fishing, hunting, boating and photography, especially taking photos. He was an avid I.U. football fan.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara McCoy, North Vernon; two sons, Dan T. McCoy of Butlerville and Christopher McCoy of North Vernon; three daughters, Kimberly (Ken) Schumacher of North Vernon, Catherine (Edward) Greenlee of Columbus and Algnette (Jim) McNelly of Waverly, Ohio; a sister, Joy (Jim) Ellis of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren, Troy McCoy and Macy McCoy, both of Columbus, James Greenlee of Columbus, now serving his country in Afghanistan, Amber Girt, Seth Schumacher, Carly McCoy, Madison McCoy and Jake McCoy, all of North Vernon, and Chance McNelly and Savannah McNelly both of Waverly, Ohio; and a great-grandchild, Miles McCoy of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Earl and William McCoy.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in North Vernon, with the Rev. Bob Weeks officiating. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery, with members of Veteran of Foreign Wars Matt Hester Post 2021 providing military graveside honors.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Dove-Sharp and Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services and from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the church.
