William Copple

William Copple, 88, Seymour, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Lutheran Community Home, Seymour.
Born Oct. 4, 1924, in East Chicago, he was the son of Clyde and Dorothy (Black) Copple. On Dec. 28, 1946, at St. John's Lutheran Church, White Creek, he married Margaret A. Linnemeier, who preceded him in death Aug. 17, 2011. Margaret's father, the Rev. O.W. Linnemeier, performed the wedding ceremony.
William was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. After graduation from Hammond High School, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy three and a half years during World War II. He was personnel and safety director at Cosco for 12 years. In 1960, he opened Happy House Gift Shop in Eastbrook Plaza with his wife. After retirement in 1980, he worked at Schneider Implement in Columbus.
He was the father of Katherine (Wilbur) Harner,
Nancy Lipka, Robert (Christine) Copple and William (Janet) Copple; grandfather of Eric Harner, Kristi Babcock, Jenny Otte, Erin Smith, Joshua Lipka, Amy Oberdorf, Caitlin Paulen, Lauren Copple and Christopher Copple; great-grandfather of seven great-grandchildren; and brother of Donald (Ruby) Copple.
Funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran Church Chapel, with the Rev. Edgar Keinath and the Rev. James Rodriguez officiating. Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery with a military flag presentation and the playing of taps.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran Church Chapel.
Memorials may be written to any Lutheran school of the donor's choice or Lutheran Community Home through Voss Funeral Service.
