Charles W. "Cotton" Russell, 77, of Seymour, passed away at Schneck Medical Center on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013.
Born March 20, 1936, in Seymour, he was the son of Virgil Roscoe and Nona Lawson Russell.
Charles was a 1954 graduate of Shields High School. He was employed at Cummins Inc. for 28 years, retiring in 2002. He was married to Patricia Anne Aiken and then to Carol Garriott Shirley for 33 years.
"Cotton" was an avid pool and billiards player, participating in many tournaments. He enjoyed deer and squirrel hunting and fishing and was a loyal Indiana University fan. He was a past member of both the Eagles Lodge and Jackson Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his children, Joey D. Russell of Columbus, Morey A. Russell, Peggy Lou (Tony) Culp, Barry L. Russell and Terry (Susie) Shirley, all of Seymour, and Rita Bahla of Louisville, Ky.; grandchildren, Corey Russell, Jeremy Russell, Hillary (Tim) French, Cassie Russell, Chance Russell, Brigette Shirley, Baron (Mary Beth) Shirley and Kristin (John) Schroeder; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Linda Lou Ahlbrand.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Hudson officiating. Burial will take place at Reddington Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
