Ralph Young, 86, Medora, passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at his residence.

He was a member of Liberty Christian Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a military police officer at Camp Atterbury and in Hawaii.
He retired from Golden Foundry after more than 37 years of employment.
He was a member of Medora Masonic Lodge 328 and Norman Conservation Club. He loved to attend his grandchildren's sporting events, and he also enjoyed bluegrass music, dancing, fishing and watching NASCAR races. It was a true pleasure for him to visit the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C.
Born Jan. 19, 1927, in Kitts, Ky., he was the son of Ray and Esther Collins Young, both of whom preceded him in death.
On July 20, 1948, in Detroit, he married Sarah Edith Yeary, who survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Jack Young, Medora, Don (Amy) Young, Winterville, N.C., Jeff (Linda) Young, Seymour, and Doug (Tina) Young, Medora; two daughters, Sharon (Glen) Davidson, Seymour, and Marcella Young, Seymour; two brothers, Paul Young, Seymour, and Kenneth (Glenda) Young, Norman; two sisters, Virginia Helton, Medora, and Darlene (Don) Silence, Dayton, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, Greg (Michelle) Davidson, Jon (Tracey) Davidson, Michael (Amy) Davidson, Craig Young, Hollie (David) Perkins, Landon Young, Kelly Young, Jordan (Lauren) Young, Brooke (Ryan) Stein, Ashley (Alberto) Saldana, Leah Young and Farrah Young; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Young and Charles Young; a granddaughter, Angela LeeAnn Young; and two great-granddaughters, Chloe Davidson and Isabella Perkins.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Spurgeon Funeral Home in Brownstown, with Ronnie Plumer officiating.
Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Brownstown.
Military honors will be presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Vietnam Veterans 7.
Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Norman Conservation Club or the Don and Dana Myers Cancer Center.
