Ray Nelson Meahl, 74, Brownstown, passed away at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at his residence.

Ray was a member and elder of Brownstown Presbyterian Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a farmer. He had served on the Fort Vallonia Days Committee for 20 years and was a member of the Quails Unlimited, Soil and Water Conservation District, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925 of Seymour, National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited. He graduated from Vallonia High School in 1956 and received his certificate in management from Indiana University School of Business in 1968.
Born Jan. 11, 1938, in Vallonia, he was the son of Roy and Louise Peters Meahl. On Aug. 21, 1993, he married Marlyn A. Hochstetler in Brownstown.
Survivors include his wife; two stepsons, Mike (Mitzi) Timberlake, Brownstown, and Brad (Amy) Timberlake, Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Leroy Meahl, Vallonia, and George (JoEllen) Meahl, Salem; two sisters, Donna (Junior) Wessel and Roslyn (Linford) Robertson, both of Brownstown; two grandchildren, Zach and Meagan Timberlake, Brownstown; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Brownstown Presbyterian Church with Pastor Brad Napier officiating. Burial will follow at Vallonia Cemetery with full military graveside rites.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to Brownstown Presbyterian Church, Don and Dana Myers Cancer Center or National Association of Quails Unlimited.
