Raymond Lee Allen, 78, of Bloomington, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at IU Health Hospice House.

Born July 5, 1935, in Washington County, he was the son of Lotus and Myrtle (Pennington) Allen. Raymond married Carole Lemen on Sept. 4, 1959.
Raymond served in the National Guard. He retired from Thompson Consumer Electronics after 40 years of service. He attended First Presbyterian Church. Raymond loved auctions and demonstrated a special talent for furniture restoration and woodworking. He served as an usher at Assembly Hall for many years, and it brought him a great deal of joy to cheer on the Indiana University basketball team.
Raymond was a good and loving husband, father and grandfather who will be so very much missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Carole Allen, of Bloomington; two daughters, Melinda (David) Clay, of Seymour, and Jennifer Allen of Bloomington, Ill.; three grandchildren, Ross Allen Clay, Ryan Lee Clay and Rashelle Ann Clay; brother, Charles Allen, of Peoria, Ill.; brother-in-law, Irwin Villani of Clarkston, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Allen; and two sisters, Bonnie Housier and Annabel Villani.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. May 16 at First Presbyterian Church in Bloomington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church.
