Redith Merrie "Reedy" Wingler Burns, 86, Seymour, passed away at 12:20 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at her residence. She had been ill for several months.
Redith was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Seymour where she had been active on the Board of Human Care and the Hand Bell Choir. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary of Seymour.
Born July 26, 1926, in
Peughtown, she was the daughter of John and Frances (Hattabaugh) Wingler, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Kermit Lee Burns on Feb. 13, 1947, in Vallonia. He preceded her in death Nov. 24, 2001.
Survivors include her two children, Steven (Amy) Burns of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Patricia (Warren) Lucas of Seymour; one sister, Conita Benton of Seymour; one brother, Avis (Shirley) Wingler of Seymour; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Scherer of Seymour; five grandchildren, Daniel Abell, Julie (Russ) Clark, Jeffrey Burns, Amanda (Cory) Dingess and Marlena (Mike) Russell; and six great-grandchildren, Nicholas (Brittany) Abell, Andrew Dingess, Seth Abell, Noah Dingess, Haley Dingess and Katelynn Russell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Roscoe, Ernest and David Wingler; sisters, Maysel Martin and Ruby Scherer; and grandchildren, Rebecca Lawrence and Johnna Lee Hollin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Lepley officiating. Burial will follow at Vallonia Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to Jonathon Brewer Scholarship Memorial Fund, Schneck Medical Center Hospice, or donor's choice.
