Virginia L. Dickey, 85, Seymour, passed away at 3 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.

Virginia was a loving person who enjoyed outside activities, especially camping, hiking and swimming. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1946, worked at Indiana Bell Telephone Co. and retired from Columbus Regional Hospital as a switchboard operator after 20 years. She may be gone from this earth but will remain forever in our hearts. She was a member of Reddington Christian Church.
Born Aug. 12, 1928, in Columbus, she was the daughter of Frank E. "Monk" Tewell and Thelma L. Quillen Tewell. She married Claude "Bud" Dickey on Aug. 26, 1966. He survives.
Other survivors include a son, Steven M. Day, San Diego; stepdaughters, Cindy and Shari Dickey, North Vernon; daughters, Bonita L. Robertson, Franklin, Melody Kriete, Natalie Day and Megan McKinney, all of Brownstown; grandchildren, Jessica Robertson Cody, Keely Robertson Leach, Britney Dickey, Justin Day, Jenifer Day Healy, Kyle Day and Candyce Day; and sisters, Katheryn Loose, Kingman, Ariz., Martha Franklin, New Castle, and Linda Lockwood, Wichita Falls, Texas.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Louis E. Tewell.
Cremation is planned.
