Frederick William Mellenbruch, 84, of Seymour, passed away at 2:55 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, at Lutheran Community Home.

Born Sept. 16, 1929, in Jackson County, he was the son of Albert and Emma (Kretzer) Mellenbruch. He married Viola L. Dickmeyer on Aug. 27, 1950, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dudleytown. She preceded him in death on March 11, 2013.
Fred worked at Arvin Industries for more than 43 years, retiring in 1995. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and cutting wood. He also was an avid IU basketball fan. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and a former member of the American Legion.
Survivors include a son, David W. (Peg) Mellenbruch of Seymour; three daughters, Marilyn J. Mellenbruch, Linda S. (Richard) Steele and Janet K. (James Jr.) Shelton, all of Seymour; six grandchildren, Lynn (Tony) Thompson, Julie (Steve) Everage, Stephanie Mellenbruch, Brian Mellenbruch, Amanda (Matt) Hayes and Jeremy Shelton; four great-grandchildren, Taylor and Savannah Mellenbruch and Brandon and David Everage; and a sister, Selma Mellenbruch.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a sister, Norma Mellenbruch.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Andrew Currao and the Rev. Joseph Barlau officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, Seymour, and from
10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church.
Burial will take place at Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Dudleytown.
