Hubert Franklin Hackman, 78, Seymour, passed away at 10:22 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at St. Vincent Heart Center of Indianapolis.
Hubert was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers. He served in the National Guard and was a farmer. He held various church offices at St. John's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, drinking coffee with his buddies and driving the roads of Jackson County in his truck.
Born on May 7, 1934, in Brownstown, he was the son of Amos and Katie Duwe Hackman, both of whom preceded him in death. On Oct. 16, 1955, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers, he married Mary Reynolds, who survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Mark (Laura) Hackman and Greg Hackman, both of Seymour, and Brian (Lora) Hackman, Brownstown; two daughters, Julia Pranger and Susan (Greg) Zabor, both of Seymour; three brothers, Omer (Alvona) Hackman, Brownstown, William (Sandy) Hackman, Brownstown, and Leon (Becky) Hackman, Brownstown; one sister, Lois (Barry) Sommers, Brownstown; 12 grandchildren, Mandy Wessel, Melissa Stiller, Luke Hackman, Brittany Hackman, Tyler Hackman, Jessica Hackman, Jenna Hackman, Braden Pranger, Brendan Pranger, Brooke Pranger, Emma Zabor and Ellen Zabor; and four great-grandchildren, Lillie Wessel, Lincoln Wessel, Luna Stiller and Harper Hackman.
He was preceded in death by both parents and two brothers, Eugene Hackman and Earl Hackman.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, with Pastor Craig Muhlbach, officiating. Burial will take place at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Spurgeon Funeral Home Inc., and from 1 p.m. until time of service Sunday at church.
Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers or St. John's Lutheran School, Sauers.
