Leora May Rice, 87, of Seymour, formerly of Brownstown, passed away at 1:05 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2013, at Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour.

Leora was a member of Brownstown Presbyterian Church. She was a secretary at Nierman Law Office and at Cummins Inc. and was a homemaker. She was a member of Brownstown Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Brownstown Study Club, Embroiderers Guild, and the Gourmet Club. She served as clerk of session at Brownstown Presbyterian Church for 22 years.
Born April 10, 1926, in Heltonville, she was the daughter of Bruce and Pauline Hawkins Hanners, both of whom preceded her in death. On April 25, 1965, in Brownstown Presbyterian Church, she married James H. Rice, who survives.
Other survivors include two stepsons, James S. (Dona) Rice of Carmel and Brian D. (Kellie) Rice of Indialantic, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Paula J. (Ronnie) Roberts of Brownstown; one sister, Marcia Robison of Brownstown; six grandchildren, Jami
(Derick) Stuckwisch, Kirby (Justin) Stacks, Aimee (Aaron) Killey, Erin Solis, Spenser Roberts and Ethan Rice; two stepgrandchildren, Jon (Casey) Wright and Jenny Wright (fiancé David Brown); five great-grandchildren, Jack Stuckwisch, Hank Stuckwisch, Grant Killey, Brielle Killey and Owen Killey.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marilyn Rice.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Spurgeon Funeral Home Inc., Brownstown, with the Rev. Duane Aelick and the Rev. Brad Napier officiating. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to Brownstown Presbyterian Church or Southern Care Hospice
