Sharon LaVerne Bradford, 63, Seymour, passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Schneck Medical Center.
The Guest Book is expired.
Sharon had been employed at the Barge Line in Louisville for many years and retired from Kobelco Metal Powder of America after 15 years of service, where she was director of human resources.
When Kobelco announced its closing, she worked tirelessly to find jobs for those being laid off.
She was a member of the Greater Seymour Chamber of Commerce board for six years, holding the office of vice chair and serving on the Education Committee. As a member of the chamber board she was not timid about expressing her ideas, which were always progressive, or backing them up with her willingness to be a worker bee to see them implemented.
She single-handedly organized the first breakfast for students on the morning of their SATs and brought in workers from Kobelco to help with the event. She served both the chamber and the community well.
She was a member of the Jackson County Human Resource Committee, where she was co-chairman. She was the Bridges out of Poverty coordinator through Jackson County United Way, was a Jackson County Learning Center tutor and was on the Anchor House board for nine years, holding the offices of president and secretary.
People-oriented and caring, Sharon will be greatly missed by all who knew her and whose lives she touched.
Born Nov. 29, 1948, in John's Run, Ky., she was the daughter of Fred and Lois Eileen (Hall) Bradford.
Survivors include her sisters, Carla (Ronald) Clester, Sheila (Robert) Carr and Lisa (Roger) Collier; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Inurnment will take place at Belle Fonte Memorial Gardens, Flat Woods, Ky., at a later date. Memorials may be written to Anchor House in Seymour.
All arrangements have been entrusted to Voss Funeral Service and Tri-County Crematory Seymour. A complete obituary may be viewed on the funeral home website at www.vossfuneralservice.com.
