Virgie Lee Alcorn, 95, Seymour, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.

Born Jan. 3, 1917, in Valley Oak, Ky., she was the daughter of John F. and Viola Sowder McKinney. Virgie was married to Robert Lee Alcorn for 35 years, and he preceded her in death in 1992.
Virgie was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity Pentecostal Chapel in Seymour for more than 20 years and enjoyed listening to gospel music. Virgie also enjoyed garage sales, quilting and sewing, being outside gardening and especially growing her tomatoes.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Gib) Claycamp of Seymour; four sons, Kennith Alcorn and Jack (Judy) Alcorn of Seymour, Jerry Alcorn and Arvil (Ruby) Alcorn of Pleasant Plain, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Virgie was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Alcorn; a daughter, Etta Faye; a grandson; and seven brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon Thursday at Trinity Pentecostal Chapel, 1013 W. Laurel St. in Seymour. Services will be at noon with Pastor Larry Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Methodist Cemetery in Sunman. Memorial donations can be made to the church. Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
