Cornelius "Neal" Byl, 75, of Seymour, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014.

Born Jan. 20, 1939, in Hackensack, N.J., he was the son of Phillip and Irene (Valentine) Byl.
Cornelius was a graduate of Hackensack High School in 1956 and graduated from Patterson Vocational Technology School in 1958. He owned several businesses, including Byl Construction. He was a member of Apostolic Pentecostal Tabernacle. He had several hobbies that included fishing, cooking, hosting parties, riding motorcycles and was an avid bird watcher. He loved building and running his companies.
Neal was a professional angler while living in New Jersey. He enjoyed working for a number of years at Topo's Customs, Saddle Brook, N.J., doing vehicle conversions. He loved to help others by making investments into their lives.
Survivors include his companion, Maria Correa; two daughters, Kristen Byl and Traci Byl; and two grandchildren, Keegan Byl-Lane and Zoe Byl.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Byl.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Apostolic Pentecostal Tabernacle, with the Rev. Larry Arrowood and the Rev. Todd Smith officiating.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.
Cremation rites will be accorded after the funeral service.
