Dorence D. Pearson, 81, of Columbus, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Four Seasons Retirement Center.

Dorence was employed in quality control at Cummins Inc. for 29 years. He loved golfing, fishing and horse racing.
He was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956. Dorence devoted his life to helping other people, especially his family. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother.
Born in Houston, Oct. 23, 1932, Dorence was the son of Roy Pearson and Mable Mitchell Pearson. He married Dorothy "Bonnie" Ryan on Dec. 19, 1953.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Melissa Pearson Vardzik of Columbus; brothers, Gene Pearson and Marvin Pearson of Seymour; grandchildren, Dustin J. King of Myerstown, Pa., and Aaron L. King of Lancaster, Pa.; and several nieces
He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings, including his twin brother, Lawrence Pearson.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus, with the Rev. Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Calling will be from noon until service time Thursday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home in Columbus.
