Joe Richard Clark, 83, of Seymour, died Monday, May 26, 2014, at Lutheran Community Home.

Born Feb. 22, 1931, in Seymour, he was the son of Bryan J. and Evelyn C. (Childs) Clark. Joe was married to Beulah Snyder on June 23, 1950, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour.
Joe graduated from Shields High School in 1949. He worked for Indiana Gas Co. and later for Hoosier Parts as the warehouse manager, retiring in 2001.
Joe was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He served on several boards and committees at church but was most proud of serving on the cemetery board, where he was instrumental in the remodeling of the chapel.
Joe was a member of the American Legion Post 89 and Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 655. He loved to garden and was well known for his tomato operation.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Beulah; four children, Tim (Kathryn) Clark of Franklin, Ted (Robin) Clark of Greenville, South Carolina, Jill (Don) Scifres of Greenwood and Brian Jay (Beverly Havron) Clark of Seymour; seven grandchildren, Jeremy (Allison) Clark, Courtney (Andrew) Groves, Eva (John) Bateman, Jordan (Kevin) Thomson,
Kiersten Scifres, Hannah Scifres and Brian Clark; four great-grandchildren, Sydney Grace Clark, Lillian E. Groves, Lucas Clark Groves and Jack Bateman; and three brothers, Roger (Evelyn) Clark, Ronnie (Shirley) Clark and Norman Clark.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, June Mundy; and three brothers, Bryan, Jack and Lyston Clark.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, the Rev. Philip Bloch and the Rev. James Rodriguez officiating. Burial will take place after the church service at Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, Seymour, and 1 p.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Lutheran Community Home Chapel Renovation or Trinity Lutheran High School.
