Clinton Earl McCord, 82, of Seymour, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014, at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.

He was born March 18, 1932, in Columbus, to Hershell Lester and Bessie Belle (Turpin) McCord. On Feb. 25, 1956, in Columbus, he married Norma Jean Kerrick.
Clint served in the U.S. Air Force military police from 1950 to 1954. He graduated from Franklin College and went on to receive his master's degree at Butler University.
Clint retired from teaching at Seymour High School in 1997 after 35 years of service. He taught English, Shakespeare, Religions of the World and American and English Literature.
Clint was an organizer of the Jackson County Humane Society and a member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Indiana Retired Teachers Association, National Education Association, American Civil Liberties Union and Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was an avid reader.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Norma Jean, and niece, Susan Burton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Voss Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Blomenberg officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be written to Jackson County Humane Society or Jackson County Public Library.
