Louis Edward Hallett, 80, Seymour, passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at his residence.
Mr. Hallett retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of service to his country. He was retired from the city of Seymour and was a member of Central Christian Church.
Louis was a member of American Legion Post 89 where he was the chaplain for many years. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925. He was over the military funeral detail that provides a final tribute to veterans. He was also a volunteer at the military museum located at Freeman Field.
Born April 4, 1932, in New Marion, he was the son of Alvin H. and Florence (McFatridge) Hallett. On Jan. 9, 1959, in Furth, Germany, he married Fanni Mackl, who preceded him in death Sept. 24, 1973. On April 6, 1974, he married Reba Ellen Caudill, who preceded him Feb. 7, 1997. On May 16, 1998, he married Wanda Darlene Smith Stout Hallett, who survives.
Besides his wife, Wanda, he is survived by his children, Karin Roberson, Vickie Conquest and Lori (Jerry) Pearson; stepchildren, Sherry (Bob) Lewis, Linda (Arvil) Hammons, Joe (Jenny) Stout and Melissa Stout; grandchildren, Nathan Richart and Emilee (Trevor) Giles; a great-granddaughter, Delainey; and sister, Nona (Wilbur) Jaynes.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Voss Chapel, Seymour, with the Rev. Lewis Wright officiating. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.
Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from noon until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to American Legion Honor Guard.
