Gordon Henry Pottschmidt, 61, of Seymour, passed away Friday, April 26, 2013, at his residence in Seymour.

Gordon was a 1970 graduate of Seymour High School and received his bachelor's degree in engineering from Purdue University. He was a consultant for engineering firms in the area and a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers. He also was past president of Beta Sigma Psi fraternity, while attending Purdue. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Seymour, where he was involved with the Praise Worship band. He loved his music and enjoyed playing tennis.
Born April 13, 1952, in Seymour, he was the son of Henry L. and Dorothy M. (Toenjes) Pottschmidt.
Survivors include his brother, Thomas L. Pottschmidt of Indianapolis; sister, Brenda Kleinberg of Farmington, Mo.; an aunt, Esther (Jon) Dechow; uncles, John Toenjes and Gerald Pottschmidt; four nephews, Charles Bochantin, Donovan Kleinberg, Ryan Pottschmidt and Andrew Pottschmidt; and a niece, Sarah Pottschmidt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, four uncles and an aunt.
The Rev. Scott Roberts will conduct a funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church, Seymour. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, Seymour, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.
Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church.
