Janie came into my life as an RA my freshman year at Radford. She quickly became a friend and mentor as I became an RA the next year. Janie had a soul unlike most- quick with a laugh or hilarious (sometimes dumb) joke, there with a hug or word of encouragement at a time when you needed one, an all encompassing acceptance of others, and an ideal of the inherent goodness of humankind. Although I lost touch with her after our lives moved us in different directions, Janie has always remained in my heart. I was so saddened to see the news of her passing when I was doing some searching today, but it looks like she leaves a tremendous legacy behind in all that she did in life.

So hard to believe Janie has been gone so long. She was an incredible part of MDA in Tallahassee and I still remember her work ethic.
Brenda and I both are thankful for her friendship.
Rest In Peace , dear Friend.

Jane. You influenced so many in your short time here with us on Earth. Because of you, and your sunny disposition and positive energy, I met people I would otherwise never have met, and experienced things I would never have enjoyed. I know so many others feel the same. We will miss you, you will be remembered. You made a difference.

I hope there is some comfort in knowing how many people Jane touched, so profoundly, in her too-brief time with us. She inspired me with her leadership, and made me proud to call her a friend. The ALAC will thrive because of the vision she set for us, and everything we do – each bold, committed, passionate thought and deed – will honor her memory. Wishing those she loved peace, and eventually, laughter, when remembering Jane. She was an uncommon light in the world.

I am stunned and my heart is broken to hear this terrible news. Janie was my first hire in Tallahassee for MDA. She was also my best hiring decision I have ever made. She was loyal, dedicated, and such a hard worker. Through the years we have stayed in touch and I am still touched by her words of encouragement. She was a friend and my life is better because Janie crossed my path. This is such sad news. I truly miss her. I just shared this sad news with Brenda and she joins me in sending our love and prayers. I am heartbroken. I am thankful I knew her. God Bless.

What sad news for your family and friends of Jane. I remember the Warners very well and have always had nothing but warm feelings for all!! I hope you will find comfort and peace with her passing, as she lived an incredible life, helping others, which is how Jesus lived his life. Love to all, Retta "Retsy" Vance-Poynter

Dear Warner family and Kathleen,
I am so sorry that this world has lost such a compassionate and kind person as Janie was. I enjoyed horses, camp, and many bike rides with Janie. She was a very good friend to me and I remember have-ing my confidence boosted in her presence. Early one Sat. morning we rode a city bus to Sullins for our riding lessons. I was nervous about the bus ride, but Janie showed me the ropes in a kind manner. May God send you many sweet memories of her. Marty Daniel Tucker

Dear Warner Family and Kathleen, My heart and prayers are with you. Growing up in the neighborhood with Janie, Johnny, and Susan was a wonderful time. The Warner house was always the gathering place for capture the flag, football, mini bikes, and after school TV. Janie was always in charge and way tougher and faster than the rest of us! Beautiful memories. Love, prayers, and peace to each of you.

I began my business and personal relationship with Jane over the phone. We immediately connected and work conversations transitioned into laughs and sharing of personal stories. It was an immediate connection - which I think was one of her strongest gifts, the ability to make everyone feel comfortable and important. She listened, she cared about others. After the work ended, we stayed in touch and I appreciated her insight, smarts and most of all her way to make me and others laugh. A real gift. Thank you Jane, you are missed.

Janie was a natural leader and motivator from Day One. We met on a Y basketball team in about 7th grade, and she was the spark and mentor to us all.
Janie excelled and "accelerated" in everything she did. I was happy to see that these traits defined her course in life, taking the helm of so many organizations and causes and creating good everywhere. Rest well God's trusted servant. Deepest sympathy to Kathleen and family.

All of our thoughts and prayers are with you. Janie was a beautiful force of nature -- smart, funny, kind - a true friend to all of us who had the good fortune to know her. Here is a link to a wonderful tribute that the American Lung Association wrote about Janie that I wanted to share with everyone. http://www.lung.org/associations/states/california/volunteer/jane-warner-in-memoriam.html

Janie always taught us all to get started on our dreams. Sweet, energetic, loving, and a wonderful friend. I have thought of her often over the years since we left Bristol and it always made me smile. Such a wonderful person, gone too soon. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in this time of pain. She will live on through the examples she set for all of us she took under her wing.

Know that all of you who loved Jane so dearly are in my thoughts and prayers.
I knew Janie during her time at the helm of MCC (Metropolitan Community Churches). We always enjoyed being together and she would open her home to our leaders from around the world when we met.
I was blessed to continue my friendship with her for several years after she moved on to other callings.
Her laughter, smiles, and emails will be missed.

What a shock and a huge loss to us all as Jane Warner was at the front of the battle lines in the fight against Lung Disease. Jane was and still is, an inspirational leader. Her passion for this work never waned and she made time to hear the weakest and lowest of voices. I am a ALA volunteer and Jane was always accessible and encouraging to me. We owe her much and will continue her work.
