Allene H. Smith LEBANON, Va. Allene H. Smith, 85, passed away Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, in the Bristol Regional Medical Center. Born Nov. 3, 1924, in Bristol Tennessee, she was a daughter of the late Fred Henley and the late Blanche Smith Henley, and the wife of the late Harry Stallard Smith, who died March 17, 2010. Allene was a member of the Lebanon Memorial United Methodist Church and a member and former president of the United Methodist Women of the church. She was chosen as Women of the Year by the Lebanon Woman's Club and was a volunteer at the Christian Center in Lebanon for many years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Henley. Survivors include two sons, Dean "Corky" Smith and wife Elane, Rosedale, and Mark Smith and Debbie Smith, Lebanon; five grandchildren, Farrah Lampkin, Jaclyn Dye, Bret Whited, Allie Chea Smith, and Jordan Dean Smith; five great-grandchildren, Maggie, Katie, Shalyn, Makenna, and Marissa; one sister, Shirley Myers, Danville; one brother, Dr. William R. Henley and wife Jackie, Abingdon; also several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express thanks to her special caregiver, Ann Creech; special friends, Bobby and Laura McComas, Junior and Shirley Griffith, J. D. and Lou Farmer, Haze "Junior" and Ann Clark, Giles Carter, Judy Breeding, David and Rhonda Holt, Virginia Lowe, Betty Fugate, and members of the Lebanon Memorial United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, in the Lebanon Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev Wil Cantrell, pastor of the church, officiating. Entombment will follow in the Ketron Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Serving as pallbearers will be: Jordan Smith, James "Butch" Tritt, Philip Henley, Todd Henlay, Bill Watson, Johnny Smith, Bobby McComas and David Holt. Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lebanon High Athletic Department, P.O. Box 217, Lebanon, VA 24266. The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Combs Funeral Service, 291 Fincastle Road, Lebanon, VA 24266, (276) 889-4444, is serving the family of Mrs. Smith.
