Carl "Chuck" Michael Virag CLEVELAND, Va. Carl "Chuck" Michael Virag, 74, of the Spring City community of Russell County passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010, in the Russell County Medical Center. Chuck was born September 15, 1935, in Natrona, Pa., the son of the late Charles and Marie Benet Virag. He spent most of his life living in Baltimore, Md., having retired as an engineer for the IBM Corporation for many years. Following retirement he and his wife moved to Russell County in late 2004. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and was of the Catholic faith. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Cora Lee Wallace Virag; two sisters, Adele Bensel and her husband Bob Bensel, and Camille Burke and her husband Michael Burke, all of Baltimore; a special caregiver, Debbie Churchill; also several nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thanks to the Cleveland Life Saving Crew for the kindness and service provided for Chuck during his illness. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2010, in the Combs Funeral Service chapel with the Rev. Michael J. Herbert of Good Sheperd Catholic Church in Lebanon officiating. Burial will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon with military honors conducted by the Lebanon V.F.W. Post 9864. Jeffrey Thacker, Preston Redman, Stuart McCall, Carol Clark, Dwayne Combs, and Thomas Sykes, Jr. will serve as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Gary Joe Lambert, Eddie Lambert, Doug Lambert, Don Lambert, Ted Blevins and Kenny Keys. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 20, 2010, at the funeral home. Combs Funeral Service, 291 Fincastle Road, Lebanon, VA 24266, (276) 889-4444 is serving the family of Mr. Virag.
