Stanley "Pete" Robinson LEBANON, Va. Stanley "Pete" Robinson, 92, of the Hansonville community passed away Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon. Born April 8, 1918, in Russell County, a son of the late Joseph "Hook" Robinson and the late Nannie Lampkins Robinson, he was the husband of the late Betty Robinson. A graduate of Temple Hill High School in Castlewood, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving at Pearl Harbor during the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was a retired employee of the Clinchfield Coal Company and a member of the U.M.W.A. He had formerly served as a deputy sheriff in Russell County and was a former chief of police in the Town of Lebanon. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Raymond Jordan; three brothers, Wade Robinson, Wayne Robinson and Houston Robinson; and his best friend, Spunk. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara "Pee Wee" Leonard and husband Sidney Leonard, Bristol Tennessee, and Geraldine Phelps and husband James Phelps, Abingdon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert "Bob" Robinson and wife Kathy Robinson, Abingdon, and Dave Robinson and wife Linda Robinson, Lebanon; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; also two nieces; and one nephew. The family extends a special thanks to Vickie Jordan and Mary Lou Stinson for their care and to Dr. Duke Holliday and staff of Riverside Clinic, Russell County Home Nursing and the CCU staff at Johnston Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, in the Combs Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Les Ketron officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, in Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon. Those attending are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jack Robinson and Bob Wampler. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Combs Funeral Service, 291 Fincastle Road, Lebanon, VA 24266, (276) 889-4444, is serving the Robinson family.
