Adam L. Shipley BLUFF CITY, Tenn. Mr. Adam L. Shipley, age 82, died on Friday, July 9, 2010, at NHC of Bristol. Mr. Shipley was born on December 1, 1927, in Sullivan County and was a son of the late Adam L. and Mamie Woods Shipley. Mr. Shipley worked as a welder for many years before becoming a building and heavy equipment contractor. He was a life long resident of Bluff City and a Veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Shipley; and sisters, Ollie Perry, Carolyn Shipley and Fairy Ellen Shipley. Mr. Shipley is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Jane Wolford Shipley; a son, Landon W. Shipley; four nephews, Kenny, Troy Lee, Michael and Steve Perry; a niece, Donna Osborne and several great and great great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home from 5 until 7 o'clock Sunday, July 11, 2010. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, July 12, 2010, in Glenwood Cemetery with Mr. Tim Carlson, Minister, officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Dunn, Mike Rutherford, Jerry Buchanan, Craig Caldwell Jr., Bobby Meadows and Conley Vance. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Bunker Hill Christian Church, 490 Bunker Hill Road, Bluff City, TN 37618. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family and viewed by visiting www.oakley-cook.com. Arrangements especially for Mr. Shipley and his family have been made through Oakley-Cook Funeral Home.
