Arliss McConnell Barr DAMASCUS, Va. Arliss mcConnell Barr, 67, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, at her residence. She was the daughter of Ruby McConnell of Damas cus, and the late Willis McConnell. She was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Bookie Barr; and a son, Mark Barr. In addition to her mother, she is also survived by her daughter, Lisa Jackson and her husband, David, of Damascus; one granddaughter, April Milhorne and her husband, Josh, of Damascus; two grandsons, David Aaron Jackson of Glade Spring, Va., and Joshua Ray Jackson of Damascus; two great- granddaughters, Sierra Milhorne and Hannah Grace Milhorne; five sisters, Jean McConnell of Abingdon, Va., Barbara Barr and her husband, R.D., of Glade Spring, Va,, Linda Hand of Damascus, Peggy Carter and her husband, Sam, of Damascus, and Brenda Shores and her husband, John, of Stuart, Va.; two brothers, Harry McConnell Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Radford, Va., and Tommy McConnell and his wife, Audrey, of Damascus; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home with Mr. John Shores and Mr. Walter Stoutie, ministers, officiating. The committal service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus. Honorary pallbearers will be David Aaron Jackson, Joshua Ray Jackson, Josh Milhorne, David Jackson, and Sam Carter. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Home Nursing Services of Southwest Virginia and Hometown Hospice of Abingdon, including Tracie, Dickie, Trish, Teresa, and Deanie for all their loving care given to Mrs. Barr during her time of illness. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:45 p.m. Friday prior to the funeral service at Garrett Funeral Home.
