Barbara JoAnne Carty PINEY FLATS, Tenn. Barbara JoAnne Carty, age 77, passed away Friday, April 09, 2010, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton, following an extended illness. She was born in Adkins, Va., to the late Tom David and Maggie Irene Shew Williams. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Carty; a son, J.D. Carty; a brother, Tom David Williams Jr.; and two sisters, Lourene Kelly and Sharon Saylor. Survivors include one daughter, Robin Miller and husband Charles of Bluff City; two sons, Paul Nathaniel Carty and wife Becky and John Robert Lee Carty all of Piney Flats; three brothers, Ronald Williams and wife Betty of Adkins, Va.; Johnny Williams and wife Karen of Piney Flats and Oscar Steve "Buddy" Williams of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Jackie Reece of Johnson City, Betty Hyder of Piney Flats and Mary Robinson of Mtn. City; six grandchildren, Alisha JoAnne Osborne, Brandy Danell Mengi, Daniel Hosey, Kasey Della Mae Miller, Mitzie June Carty and Joseph Lee Carty; and three great-grandchildren, Luke Osborne, Jennifer Osborne and Katlin Young. Mrs. Carty was a life long member of Edgefield United Methodist Church and a member of the Sunshine Sunday School Class. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, April 12, 2010, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Bluff City Chapel with Rev. Estel Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Shell Cemetery, Piney Flats. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1 2 p.m., Monday prior to the service in the chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home and anytime at the residence of her daughter, 1932 Old Bristol Hwy., Watauga, TN. Robin, Paul & Johnny and family, We are so sorry for the loss of your Mother. She was a great friend and neighbor to us and we miss her. Her talents were many. May God comfort you with your memories..
