Betty Harris Flanner BLUEFIELD, Va. Betty Harris Flanner, 76, formerly of Richlands, Va., went to her everlasting home on Nov. 14, 2010, at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. She was born on July 27, 1934, in Richlands, to the late Doskie Horton Harris and the late James Marvin Harris. Betty was a graduate of Richlands High School and a former employee of Clinch Valley Clinic, Richlands National Bank, First National Exchange Bank, Dominion Bank and the Green Thumb Program. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed singing and attending church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her youngest son, John J. Flanner Jr.; and her foster mother, Narcie Horton Wilson. Betty is survived by her former husband, John Jay Flanner of Wardell, Va.; two daughters, Donna S. Flanner of Bluefield, and Debra Denise St. Clair and husband, Dr. D. Thomas St. Clair, of Bastian, Va.; two sons, Larry D. Flanner and wife, Joyce "Susie", of Tazewell, Va., and Gary K. Flanner and wife, Kathy, of Elizabethton, Tenn.; one stepson, John Jewell and wife, Sandy, of Monroe, Mich.; four grandchildren, Rachael D. Downard of Bluefield, Alexandra "Nikki" Luttrell of Bluefield, Kevin D. Flanner of Tazewell, and Brandon K. Flanner of Elizabethton; two step-grandsons, Dr. Jeffrey St. Clair of New Orleans, La., and Dr. Schon St. Clair of Hurricane, W.Va.; four sisters, Madeline Elswick and husband, Robert, of Richlands, Janie Woods and husband, Harry, of Roanoke, Va., Linda McClanahan and husband, Benny, of Grundy, Va., and Betsey Christian of Baptist Valley, Va.; three brothers, Johnny Harris and wife, Kate, of Johnson City, Tenn., Dan Harris and wife, Cathy, of Richlands, and Harold Harris and wife, Linda, of Raleigh, N.C.; several nieces and nephews; several step-granddaughters; and one special canine companion, Maggie. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Va. with the Rev. Phillip Cook officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff.
