Beulah Rasnick Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 6, 2010.
Beulah Mae Rasnick MARTIN TOWN, VA. Beulah Mae Rasnick left her home in Martin Town to enter Paradise at 9 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010. She was met there by her Lord and Savior, her husband of 66 years, Bazil Rasnick; parents, Vernon and Mary Ann Smith; brothers, Willie, V. R. Junior, and Franklin D. (Dee) Smith; sisters, Buena, Margie, and Mildred; and a host of other friends and relatives. Mae was a lifelong resident of Dickenson County and resided in the home place at Martin Town for 71 or her 88 years upon this earth. She was a member of Martin's Chapel Church for more than 50 years. She prepared meals for the students at Ervinton High School for many years before retiring in 1982. She is survived by five children, Lannes Rasnick Sr. and wife, Clara, Connie Schlemmer, Wayne Rasnick and wife, Laurel, Elizabeth Powers and husband, Dave, and Damon Rasnick and wife, Bobbi; eight grandchildren, Lanny Rasnick Jr., Ruben Wayne Rasnick, Matthew Powers, Marie Stanley, Kevin Rasnick, Mark Powers, Rebecca Castle, and John Rasnick; eight great grandchildren, Ruben Rasnick III, Simon Rasnick, Jared Stanley, Jill Rasnick, Lanny Rasnick III, Cody Powers, Kacie Castle, and Elin Mae Rasnick; one sister, Judy Conti and husband, Wayne of Springfield, Missouri; one brother, Jimmy Smith of Forest, Va.; three sister-in-laws, Helen Smith, Alice Sawyers, and Normalene Smith; she was looking forward to welcoming another great-grandchild in February. She was well served during her 10 year struggle with cancer by Dr. N. C. Ratliff, Dr. Forrest Swan, the nurses and staff of Johnston Memorial Hospital, Dickenson County Home Health, Home Nursing, Inc., Dr. Mark Copas, Bobby Hammons, the staff of Greenway Pharmacy, and everyone else who touched her life. It is impossible to thank everyone who assisted the family during the progression of this journey, but we are sure all must know how truly thankful we are for every kindness provided. Her exceptional demeanor and overall sweetness led to many close relationships that caused many tears to flow from multiple health providers and friends. The family remains deeply touched by the love directed to our precious mother during this time. She was a humble, sweet, loving person for the entirety of her life. She truly believed that all persons should love one another, be forgiving of each other and above all be good to one another. She believed that all persons possessed worth and each one should be treated fairly and in a civil manner. Mae not only talked the talk, she walked the walk. She spent a lifetime exhibiting splendid behavior. Oh, what an example she provided for everyone who knew her! What a testament to her life if more were to practice what she taught and lived. It is a blessing and a privilege to have known Beulah Mae Rasnick. We do miss her so! Funeral services for Beulah Mae Rasnick will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, in Martin's Chapel Church in Martin Town, Va., with Rev. Bo Patterson, Rev. Darrell Milgrim, and Rev. Leonard Ferguson officiating. The body will be taken to the church on Sunday morning where friends may call. Interment will follow in the Rasnick Family Cemetery at Martin Town, Va. Ratliff; caregiver, friend and help mate, Shellia Helton; Dave Powers; Wayne Conti; life long friend, John Smith; great grandchildren; all of her precious nieces, nephews, and cousins; her special neighbors in Martin Town; and her brothers and sisters in Martin Chapel Church.
