Bob Ball

Bob M. Ball SANFORD, Fla. Bob M. Ball passed away on Dec. 31, 2009, at the age of 81. He was born in Zephyrhills, Fla., to Lena and Giles Ball. He grew up in Bristol Tennessee and later moved to Sanford where he lived for nearly 40 years. He is survived by his three sons, James Robert Ball, David Ball and Steve Ball and his wife Susan Ball; his three grandsons, Christopher Ball, Matthew Ball and his wife Kristin Ball, and Jonathan Ball and his wife Ashley Ball; his two brothers, Harry Neal Ball and his wife Helen Ball and Freddie Ball and his wife Della Mae Ball; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former wife Katherine Bouton Ball, to whom he was married for 28 years. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jackie Ball; and his parents, Lena and Giles Ball. Bob was a prominent businessman in Sanford. He had a long career with the National Cash Register Company (NCR) before moving to Sanford to open a Western Auto retail business that he owned and operated. He also owned and operated a music and bicycle store in Sanford for many years. He served on the city's housing aurthority board and citizen police patrol. Bob graduated from Tennessee High School in Bristol Tennessee in 1946. He served as a Scout master for the Boy Scouts through the Central Christian Church. He also served in the National Guard. Bob loved to spend time playing the guitar and organ, riding his bicycle, and fishing on the St. John's River. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Weaver Funeral Home in Bristol Tennessee, on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends and relatives from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Local arrangements have been made with Weaver Funeral Home.
