Bobby Lampkins

Bobby Ray Lampkins LEBANON, Va. Bobby Ray Lampkins, age 69, of the Crossroads Community, went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 2, 2010, at his home. Born Jan. 18, 1941, in Scott County, a son of the late Willie and Alpha Allen Lampkins, he had lived most of his life in Russell County. Bobby was of the Christian faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Matthew Lampkins; one brother, Sam Lampkins; and three sisters, Lucille Fields, Patsy Lampkins and Mabel Doris Lampkins. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Elizabeth Cox Lampkins; one daughter, Peggy Gobble and husband Sam, Lebanon; two sons, David Lampkins of the home and Darrell Lampkins and wife Kathy, Lebanon; four grandchildren, Angela Lampkins, Justin Lampkins, Travis Hughes, and Stacy Brown and husband Baird; one great-granddaughter, Lydia Rae Brown; two sisters, Opal Street, Bristol Virginia, and Iva Nell Hicks, Conover, N.C.; two brothers, Lilburn Lampkins, and wife Barbara, Lebanon, and George Lampkins and wife Audrey, Castlewood; also several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, in the Combs Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Dewey Helbert and the Rev. Bill Gobble officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010, in the Helbert Family Cemetery. Those attending are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
