Buford Lester Jessee NICKELSVILLE, Va. Buford Lester Jessee, 74, died Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at his home in Nickelsville, Va. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. " II Timothy 4: 7. He was born in Russell County, Va., son of the late Fuller and Pearl Robinson Jessee. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Nancy Jessee; three sisters, Jennette Robinson, Alberta Morris and Betty Lane. He was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church in Nickelsville where he was a special Bell Ringer at the church. He loved working the church doing painting and odd jobs. He is survived by his wife Maxie Salyer Jessee; two step-daughters, Barbara Keith and husband Mody, of Nickelsville, and Mary Lou Gordon and husband Robert, of Castlewood, Va.; three step-grandchildren, Dorothy Meade, Pamela Gordon and Kayla Gordon; one step grandson, Hunter Meade; two sisters, Delores Richmond and husband Eddie, of Kingsport, Tenn, and Joyce Boothe of Kingsport, Tenn.; two brothers, Bernard Jessee of Bristol Tennessee and Doug Jessee of Wilson, N.C.; a special friend, Susie Quesenberry; a host of friends and loved ones; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Buford Lester Jessee will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, in the Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Va., with Rev. Mike Mellows, Rev. Wayne Meade, and Evangelist Garry Hood officiating. Singing will be by the Pleasant View Church Choir. Committal Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, in Grassy Creek Cemetery, Castlewood, Va. Family and Friends will meet at the funeral home and go in processions to the cemetery leaving at 10:15 a.m. Monday. Pallbearers will be Michael Salyer, Doyle Robinson, Edward Robinson, Jackie Meade, Hunter Meade, Gary Daugherty and Grover Meade Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Francisco, Bill Counts, Garland Horne, W.B. Salyer and Darrell McConnel. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, Va., or any other time at the home, 345 Gibson Road, Nickelsville, Va.
