C. Edward "Eddie" Barker Sr. CASTLEWOOD, Va. C. Edward "Eddie" Barker Sr., 62, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at his home. He was born in Richlands, Va., son of the late Ellis W. and Nancy Howard Barker. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army as a paramedic, serving in Germany during the Vietnam Era. He was a capitol police officer in Washington, D.C. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Danny, Ronnie, Larry, and Don; one sister, Ann. He is survived by his wife, Lorine Barker; one son, Eddie Barker Jr. of Lebanon, Va.; three daughters, Crystal Osborne of Lebanon, Melissa Barker of Lebanon, and Shana Phillips and husband, Luther "Junior", of Lebanon; three stepsons, Kevin Coniglio of Castlewood, Brian Hurd of Castlewood, and Glen Longwell of Avon Lake, Ohio; mother-in-law, Rita K. Hurd of Castlewood; two brothers, Jack Harris of Lebanon, and Ricky Barker of Cary, N.C.; three sisters, Kathy Williams of Phoenix, Clara Lowe of Hustle, Va., and Sandra Harrison of Honaker, Va.; three grandchildren, Ashton Blevins, Ariane Blevins, and Canaan Phillips of Lebanon; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for C. Edward "Eddie" Barker Sr. will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, in the Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, with Rev. Danny Meade and Rev. Ernie Addington officiating. Committal services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood. Military rites will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, and Virginia National Guard Honors Team. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home and go in procession to the cemetery, leaving at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Jamie Holbrook, Mike Scarberry, Michael Steffey, Rob Barger, Bobby Phillips, and Joe Fields. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Patrick and Bob Steffey. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood.
