Carl Rex Thompson ABINGDON, Va. Mr. Carl Rex Thompson, age 81, a resident of the Rhea Valley section of Washington County, Va., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, in the Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Raymond and Maude Venable Thompson and was also preceded in death by his wife, Jane Thompson; and one son, Mike Thompson. He was retired from the General Motors Corporation where he held the position of supervisor. He is survived by one son, Dave Thompson of Elyria, Ohio; one daughter, Carleen Helmick of Howard, Colo.; one brother, Jerry Thompson and wife Juanita of Damascus, Va.; and one daughter-in-law, Jeanette Thompson of Colorado. A memorial service will be held at a later and will be announced in the Bristol Herald Courier.
