Cecil Morton Cecil Morton, a Christian, loving husband and father, devoted worker, and trust ed friend, went home to be with his Lord, Saturday, May 29, 2010, at his residence, following a brief illness. He was born Dec. 16, 1941, in Carter County, to the late Henry Morton and the late Irene Morton Nave; and stepfather, J.C. Nave. Cecil was best friends with and loving husband to his wife of 48 years, Linda Goodman Morton. Cecil and Linda loved just spending time together, whether they were working, travelling, or spending time with family and friends. Cecil is also survived by a loving son, Shane Morton, who greatly loved his dad and stood by his side during his illness. Cecil also had one granddaughter, Holly, who he adored. Cecil attended Heritage Baptist Church, Johnson City. While living in Jefferson City, Tenn., he was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, Sunday school teacher, and leader of the Royal Ambassadors. Cecil was a hard worker, having worked in the Concrete and Pipe Industry for over 50 years. He served 16 years as assistant plant superintendant at Old Hickory Concrete and Pipe in Johnson City; 14 years as plant manager at Knoxville Concrete and Pipe; and, most recently, served 20 years as plant superintendant at Perma-Tile in Bristol Virginia. Cecil was a father-figure to many of the men who worked for him, and was a friend to many. He was a very honest and giving person; he gave so much to others, and never expected anything in return. Cecil was always anxious for Spring, because he loved putting out a garden and going fishing. But the thing Cecil loved the most was his family. Cecil's Heavenly homecoming was shared with his sister, Monnie Williams, who died a few hours before him. In addition to his parents, and stepfather, Cecil was preceded in death by three brothers; and one other sister, Leonard Morton, Orlie Morton, Darrell Nave, and Charlotte Street. Cecil is also survived by six sisters and two brothers, Louise Ingram, Carolyn (Buster) Lyons, Ruthie (Terry) Lovelace, and Charles (Becky) Morton, of Elizabethton, Ivalee (Ted) Beamer, of West Virginia, Marion Hulse, of Jonesborough, Joyce (John) Norman, of Johnson City, and James Nave, of Erwin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Music will be provided by Robb Cates, Angie Grigsby, and Kenn Hecht. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral, from 5-7 p.m. or any time at the home of Bob and Wanda May, 2703 Steven Drive, Johnson City.
