Charles Gill

Charlie Samuel Gill BRISTOL, Va. Charlie Samuel Gill, age 86, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009 at his home. He was born in Washing ton County, Va., to the late Sam and Bertie Cox Gill. He was a graduate of Greendale High School and Abingdon Technical School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He began his career at Delaney Electric Company and retired after 32 years of service from Raytheon. He was a member of Meadowview Presbyterian Church and his hobby was his garden. He was preceded in death by six brothers, William, Millard, Edward, Ault, Elbert and Clifford Gill; and two sisters, Ester Linder and Annis Phillips. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Edith Cunningham Gill; daughter, Teresa Necessary and husband Donny; special granddaughter, Tiffany Necessary; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Mia. The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, in Akard Funeral Home Chapel by Minister Bill Haywood, Dr. Phil Blevins and Rev. Alan Chapman officiating. The committal service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Mountain View Mausoleum Chapel, with burial in Mountain View Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews, nieces and friends. The family will receive friends from 5 -7 p.m. Friday prior to the service at Akard Funeral Home.
