Charles Monroe Kirby MARION, Va. Charles Monroe Kirby, age 79, died Sunday, May 30, 2010, at his home. Mr. Kirby was a native of Smyth County and lived here all his life. He was a very active member of Marion Baptist Church and was retired from Brunswick Corporation after 35 years of service. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Katherine Medley Kirby of Marion; two sons, Charles M. Kirby Jr. and wife Linda of Richmond, Va., and Ronnie Kirby and wife Doris of Rocky Mount, Va.; two granddaughters; and two step-granddaughters. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Marion Baptist Church with Dr. Mark Ross, Reverend Neville Mozingo and Dr. William Slater officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Marion. There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home.
