Charles C. McClung SAN MATEO, Fla. Charles C. McClung, 78, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine, Fla. Charles was born on Monday, June 1, 1931, in Welch, W.Va., to the late William Burns and Pearl (Rainey) McClung. Mr. McClung proudly served his country faithfully in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post No. 6975 and the American Legion. Mr. McClung is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Peggy G. McClung of San Mateo; sons, Charles C. McClung and wife, Debra of Clarksburg, W.Va., and James G. McClung of San Mateo; daughter, Jane Palmer and husband, John of Interlachen, Fla.; grandchildren, John Palmer Jr. and wife, Jennifer, James Palmer and wife, Alyssa, Joel A. Palmer, Demi B. McClung, Margaret A. McClung, Brittany J. McClung and Crystal N. McClung. He will be cherished by countless others, family and friends, who loved him dearly. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010, in Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon, Va. Military honors will be conducted by Highlands Fellowship Veterans Honor Guard.
