Charles William McVey GLADE SPRING, Va. Charles William McVey, 82, passed away on Dec. 29, 2009 at his home. `He was born July 21, 1927, and was a son of the late Charles and Lula Mae McVey. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Shotgun McVey; two brothers, James and Andy McVey; and three sisters, Lucy Ross, Mary Campbell and Margaret Fisher. Survivors are his wife, Nora Thomas McVey; one son, Ray McVey and wife Juanita of Glade Spring; three daughters, Brenda McVey, Carol McVey and Kelly Thomas and husband Harvey, all of Glade Spring; three sisters, Callie Reader, Dorothy Wheatley and Betty Fisher, all of Deleware; seven grandchildren; and 11 great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Glade Spring with Pastor Junior Hamm officiating. Interment will follow. Pallbearers will be Harvey Thomas, Robert Thomas, James Thomas, D.J. McVey, Joe McVey and Raymond Hedrick. Those who would like to go in procession to the cemetery may meet at Farris Funeral Service by no later than 1:15 p.m. Friday. The family will be receiving friends at Farris Funeral Service from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday.
