Claude "Skip" Steely Young Jr. GRAY, Tenn. Claude"Skip" Steely Young Jr., age 61, passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at the James H. Quillen VA Nursing Home following an extended illness. A native of Hazard, Ky., he was a son of the late Claude Steely Young Sr., and Mary Magadalene Burke Young Davis. Mr. Young was a U.S Navy Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a mechanic for the City of Johnson City. Mr. Young was an equipment truck driver for the Trailblazer Band at Daniel Boone High School, and was a bus driver for the Bristol Motor Speedway and Food City during race week, he also drove buses for the Rhythm and Roots Reunion. Mr. Young is survived by the absolute love of his life, his wife, Patricia Bush, Gray; two sons, Tim Young and Todd Richardson, both of Johnson City; five daughters, Kim Cook, Kristin Lee, Kathryn Shockley, Kerrianne Bush, and Kellyn Bush; three brothers, Doug "Skeeter" Young, Greenville, N.C., Scott Davis, Gray, and Danny Davis, Hampton, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jacob Young, Kayla McGill, Karissa McGill, Kristopher Cochran, Konner Cochran, Kevin Lee, Queyana Lee, Shawn Lee, and Nathaniel Bush; great-grandson, Hunter; niece, Amber Young Wigent; and two nephews, Andrew Davis and Holden Davis. The funeral service for Mr. Young will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with the Rev. Bryant Collins and Chaplain Willie Charles officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 12 from 5 until 7 p.m. in the East Parlor of the funeral home. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, from the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the Boone Dam V.F.W. Active pallbearers will be Doug "Skeeter" Young, Mike Lee, Todd Richardson, Jay Cochran, Elizabeth Davis, and Danny Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Davis, Andrew Davis, Scott Blanton, and Jonathan Garst. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Thursday to travel in procession to the cemetery.
